Michael W. McMahon

During Michael “Mike” McMahon’s career, he has successfully mediated hundreds of cases from simple slip and falls to complex, multi-party major casualties. He brings twenty-eight years of legal experience to his mediation clients including trying numerous cases in both Louisiana and Texas federal and state courts.

Mike McMahon is a shareholder in the law firm of Daigle Fisse & Kessenich with offices in Madisonville and Baton Rouge. He manages the firm’s Admiralty Group. Mr. McMahon specializes in maritime personal injury defense, longshoreman personal injury defense, maritime collisions and property damage claims arising out of maritime casualties. Mr. McMahon also represents clients in commercial litigation, contractual indemnity disputes, insurance coverage disputes, and defends clients against USCG and BSEE investigations. He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1989, his Masters in Accounting from the University of Mississippi in 1992, and his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law in 1995. He served as Law Clerk in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

Mr. McMahon was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1995 and the Texas Bar in 2004. He is a member of the Louisiana and Texas State Bar Associations, Federal Bar Association and Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and former member of the Louisiana State Board of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Mariner’s Club of the Port of New Orleans and served as President in 2008.

Recognized as an honoree for the 2020 “Leadership in Law” Program presented by the New Orleans CityBusiness Magazine, Mr. McMahon was one of the top 50 attorneys in the Greater New Orleans region. He received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell for legal ability and adherence to professional standards of ethics. He is also a frequent guest speaker on many topics including claims handling.

Mr. McMahon and his wife Amy are the proud parents of three grown sons.
