Michael G. Helm

Mike Helm is an experienced mediator having mediated over 500 claims since 2005. As the founder of Helm Law Firm, L.L.C., Mr. Helm also maintains a solo practice in Covington, Louisiana. He has substantial experience in resolving disputes embraced within insurance, personal injury, wrongful death, property damage and contractual actions having engaged in litigation over the past thirty-three years representing claimants and defendants.



Mr. Helm was admitted to practice law in Louisiana in 1988 and Texas in 1994. In his thirty-three years of practice, his primary focus has been in Admiralty and Maritime Law, Personal Injury, Wrongful Death, and Insurance. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Texas Bar Association, American Bar Association, and Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Helm served two years as a member of the Adjunct Faculty for the Tulane Trial Advocacy program.

Over his legal career, Mr. Helm has been a speaker at CLE seminars on the topics of Evidence and “the Art of Civil Trial Objections (and Responses)”. He received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell for legal ability and adherence to professional standards of ethics.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Helm worked in the oil field industry for six years as a provider of offshore services and products. Following his senior season as a member of the Georgia Tech football team, Mr. Helm received the Best All Around Excellence Award.

Mr. Helm's diverse personal and professional life uniquely qualify him to serve as a mediator. He successfully completed Learn From The Masters Mediation Training Seminar with Sid Stahl in Dallas, Texas in March of 2005, a training course covering the “Theory and Practice of Conflict Management”. His ability to motivate and persuade, together with his integrity and great respect for fairness are just a few of the assets that Mr. Helm brings to the mediation table.

Mr. Helm is married to Kellie Helm, and they are the proud parents of five children.
