René DeRojas is a bilingual Hispanic American with extensive experience in litigating personal injury disputes in state and federal courts throughout Louisiana. Since 2013, he has successfully mediated numerous cases throughout the state. He also serves as a court appointed mediator in the Hurricane Ida Claims Settlement Program in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana.
Mr. DeRojas is a member of the law firm of McCranie, Sistrunk, Anzelmo, Hardy, McDaniel & Welch, where he maintains a diversified insurance defense practice with a concentration in the areas of personal injury and premises liability since 1991. From 1987 until 1991, he was an associate with the law firm of Regan and Associates where he maintained a general practice which included personal injury, workers compensation, family law, bankruptcy, estate planning, successions, business organizations and real estate transactions.
Mr. DeRojas has been licensed to practice law in the State of Louisiana since 1987. He has received Martindale Hubbell’s highest rating of “AV” for legal ability and adherence to professional standards of ethics. He attended the College of Trial Advocacy at Hastings College of the Law in 1988. He completed Civil, Commercial & Employment Mediation Training with the Mediation Institute in 2013. He has lectured at CLE seminars and is a Lorman Distinguished Faculty Member. He has also given numerous client educational seminars.
A native of Santiago de Cuba, Mr. DeRojas is a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association, Hispanic Lawyers Association of Louisiana (Treasurer), Hispanic Chamber of Louisiana and the Louisiana Bar Association Minority Involvement Section. He is also a member of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. Mr. DeRojas is active with the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association serving as the Treasurer from 2019-22 and Section Chair from 2022-24.
