Brandon K. Black

Brandon Black serves as a mediator on Perry Dampf’s State and Local Tax (SALT) mediation panel. He is also a partner at Jones Walker in the Litigation Practice Group, where he advises clients on a range of complex commercial disputes.

Brandon represents clients in litigation involving state and local tax issues, business and commercial transactions, bankruptcy, environmental and toxic torts, the federal False Claims Act, RICO, construction matters, as well as all aspects of insurance coverage disputes.

Brandon’s experience is wide ranging and includes creditors' rights cases in bankruptcy court, federal district court, and state court; RICO; insurance coverage disputes; toxic tort litigation; construction litigation; state deceptive trade practice matters; general commercial litigation; bankruptcy; foreclosures; state procurement disputes; government-contract issues; and federal False Claims Act cases.

He also has handled a broad spectrum of state and local administrative matters before various boards, commissions, and administrative agencies, such as the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board, Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors, Louisiana Liquefied Petroleum Gas Commission, and Louisiana Behavior Analyst Board.

Prior to joining Jones Walker, Brandon was a CPA and staff accountant at KPMG from 1991 to 1993. From August 1996 to July 1997, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Frank J. Polozola of the US District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. Brandon was an associate from 1997 to 2002 and a partner from 2003 to 2004 at the law firm Taylor Porter Brooks & Phillips in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He joined Jones Walker in 2005 and became a partner at the firm in 2006.
